The Passing of Ann Spurling Sunday, Sunglo Boston Terriers

Today is a sad day for the Boston Terrier world. Today saw the passing of Ann Spurling Sunday of Sunglo Boston Terriers.  Diagnosed with cancer only a month earlier, she quietly left this world to rejoin Bozie, Keya, Torchie and all of the Bostons before them. She peacefully passed at home surrounded by those she loved.

Ann was a true icon in the world of the Boston Terrier. Ann had been breeding Bostons for over 40 years and her mother before and her grandmother before her.  It was a family tradition and gift that dates back to the 1920's.

Ann was considered to be one of the top 5 Boston Terrier breeders in the US and recognized internationally. Not for the volume of dogs, but for the quality and consistency. For not only maintaining the standard but in setting the standard, and for setting the bar high. Her dogs all had that "Sunglo look". People knowledgeable in the breed could look at a dog in the ring or a picture and know it was a Sunglo.

Ann not only bred great Bostons, but she mentored and gave a foot in the door to countless newbies. I lost track of how many people I have met who got their first champion Boston from Ann, and those who got their first pet Boston from Ann.

If you have a Sunglo dog or a dog with Sunglo in their lines, you have a piece of living history. I am not only blessed but HONORED to have not 1 but 3 Sunglo dogs.

Ann I cannot thank you enough for all that you have given me. Not just my dogs, but for your friendship, for the world that you opened up to me and all of the amazing people I have in my life because of the dog fancy. Hillary and I will do our best to continue on with your life's work. I know we will stumble and we will make mistakes, but we will do our best to uphold the Sunglo standard and to carry on.

We love and miss you Ann Sunday!!!
